NeuCyte, Inc. – Mountain View CA

Contact info: careers@neucytelabs.com

Who we are:

NeuCyte is an early stage biotechnology company that focuses on developing treatments for those suffering from neurological and neurodegenerative disorders. We develop translatable cell-based assays for modeling CNS-related disorders using patient-derived and genetically engineered neural cell types to discover novel therapeutics. Based on our SynFire® technology, our proprietary human neural in vitro platforms assess cell autonomous, non-cell autonomous and complex electrophysiological and morphological readouts suited for target identification and validation, as well as drug efficacy testing.

What we're looking for:

NeuCyte is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate / Senior Research Associate to join our team. In this role, the successful candidate will apply their expertise in iPSC-derived disease modeling and assay development using models of neurologic diseases. The candidate will employ these models for phenotypic assay development and drug screening efforts for drug discovery. This position requires a strong background in iPSC cell culture, disease modeling, and phenotypic assay development. This position also requires good facilities management skills as the successful candidate will help to maintain the lab equipment associated with these projects to ensure smooth operations within the lab.

What you’ll do:

  • Maintenance of iPSC and neuronal cell cultures for molecular biology experiments, high-content imaging, and functional assays

  • Participate in the design and implementation of cell-based assays

  • Perform high-content imaging for phenotypic drug screening using both high-throughput and live cell imaging platforms; support the general needs around imaging and microscopy

  • Participate in the design and implementation of QA and QC assay criteria

  • Assist with laboratory space maintenance and help to ensure consumables are stocked

  • Interact with service partners and instrument manufacturers to ensure regular annual maintenance is performed and help with instrument troubleshooting

  • Keep up with the technology of the field, review relevant literature, and evaluate systems and analysis solutions

  • Write project reports and present projects at both internal and external meetings

Required:

  • B.S. or M.S. with 3-5 years of iPSC experience, preferably in a fast-paced lab environment with a neuroscience background

  • Hands-on experience with iPSC multi-lineage differentiation of CNS cell types i.e., neurons, astrocytes, microglia, or brain microvascular endothelial cells

  • Experience with molecular biology and biochemistry assays such as DNA and RNA extraction, PCR and qPCR, understanding of plasmid construction, Western blotting, ELISA, etc.

  • Proficiency in the use of high-content imaging systems and related data analysis software

  • Experience with lab space and equipment maintenance

  • Ability to multi-task and participate in multiple projects simultaneously

  • Clear written and oral communication and detailed documentation skills

Preferred:

  • Experience with human iPSC-derived neuron electrophysiology

  • Experience with phenotypic assay development and data interpretation

  • Experience in high-throughput drug screening

  • Experience with bioinformatics analysis

  • Basic computer programming skills for data processing

Compensation:

  • Competitive salary and benefits
